For sale is a Eico ST-70 in very good condition. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, large can capacitors have been replaced with JJ can capacitors.

Other electrolytics have been replaced with Nichicons. Film capacitors have been replaced with either Panasonic polyester, polypropylene or Russian K42Y caps. Controls have been cleaned, RCA connectors have been replaced. RCA connectors have been reduced from 3 per cutout to 2 to help fit modern RCA cables and remove the confusing layout Eico came up with. On/Balance, Spkr Phase, Tape Mon, Tape Equal, Mode all bypassed. Tone controls still active, but can be bypassed using the On/Balance switch. Loudness, Hi Filter, Low Filter all work. Hi Filter and Low Filter can be bypassed with On/Balance switch. 7591s are replaced by Russian 6P3S-E tubes. These tubes are about equivalent to 5881s and proven to be very robust.

They can be replaced by Russian 6P3S, 6L6, 5881, or other 6L6 equivalents as long as they fit under the cover, about 3 3/4. To use 7591s, 2 wires on each output socket will have to be moved. I can do this before sending amp, but I don't have any 7591s to test.

12AX7s have been replaced with Russian 6N2P, equivalent to 6AX7. To use a 12AX7 you'll have to move one wire on the filaments. Completed all modifications except the variable resistor phono mod in Steven Lafferty's Eico ST-70A mods package. Tubes included are: 4 X 6P3S-E, 5 X 6N2P, 2 X 6SN7, GZ34. I only could get 32 watts Output out of both channels before top and bottom showed clipping. The Oscope pictures are at full power out at 10 volts per division, about 45-46 volts. With the mods, this is a very good sounding amplifier, especially with the tone controls bypassed. Also have a Eico ST96 Tuner listed.
