Heathkit mono tube integrated amplifier. I got this from an estate sale with the top cover loose.

I suspect that the amp was custom mounted without it's cover (note the added L brackets on the back of the chassis). The cover is loose and work will have to be done to mount it. The bottom plate is not the original it is has been cut to size with the opening for the input cables from a piece of sheet metal by the previous owner. The bottom plate should have been made approximately 1/2 wider on each side, the top cover is suppose to sit on this lip and then 4 screws from underneath hold the cover in place. You could leave this homemade bottom plate as it is and add a strip on each side to mount the cover. The last photo shows what the correct bottom plate side lips look like, this is a photo of a different EA-3. I powered up the amplifier using a variac and ran it for several hours. The bass and treble controls were slightly noisy when turned so I cleaned the 2 controls which eliminated the noise.

The audio sounds very good to me, I don't hear any distortion and it's output level is strong. The tone controls work as designed.

With the volume turned down, I can faintly hear power supply hum. No other testing was done and the amp has not been refurbished.

Like all vintage tube equipment, it is recommended that a tech go through the amp for maximum performance and durability. The soldering is adequate, but some of the lead dressing is messy. The front panel has a number of rub marks which show up in the photos.

The front panel labeling is undamaged and the knobs are in good condition (they have some slight white contamination which could be cleaned off). The top cover is in very good condition on the visible side, there is some rust on the inside of the cover. The amplifier will be carefully packaged so it arrives undamaged.
