I have for sale this Absolutely stunning vintage tube pre-amplifier! This Vintage Altec Lansing 344A Quartet Tube Amplifier is in beautiful working condition. The faceplate and dials are nearly flawless. I don't believe finding a nicer unit in this condition would be possible. The Altec Lansing 344-A is a integrated amplifier in the valve amplifier category.
It was manufactured from 1957 to unknown. Two EL34s with two 12AX7s provided 20 watts mono output with a frequency range of 20 - 22,000cps. The use of a printed circuit board helped Altec keep costs down on this unit. Moreover, Altec claimed that by attaching all the components on the PC board through riveted eyelets, they could all be replaced without damaging the circuit board. Six inputs were provided and these were selected by four volume controls, mounted vertically in the middle of the amplifier control panel. The remaining were: a four-position loudness compensation control, continuously variable bass and treble controls, three-position rumble and scratch filters and a nine-position input / equalizer selector switch. The amp was recently completely gone through and is working perfect. Resistors and capacitors replaced and external fuse added.
