Pilot 240 Tube Integrated Amplifier Vintage Stereo

  

PILOT 240 15WPC EL84 TUBE AMP. This amplifier has been professionally serviced by Vintage Amplifier Restoration of Hattiesburg MS. All electrolytics and signal coupling capacitors were replaced along with some resistors.

It has a quad of GE El84 output tubes driven by a pair of RCA B12AX7s. The phono section has Baldwin branded 12AX7s and the tone circuit has a Bell & Howell 12AX7. When I got the amp, it was still in a console and was therefore nice and clean. However it did not have the wooden case you see now which is homemade by me. It worked but I wanted it to be made reliable to run as my main amp so I took it to the shop.

I will include all the original parts that were replaced including the original Volume/power switch that was deemed to have some balance issues. The amp sounds real nice. The only issue I can see now is the phono section has a weaker sound than other sources, which is common in many amplifiers and has not really been a problem. I do notice a slight hum in the phono on 1 channel when no record is playing with the volume turned up.

Again this has not been a problem for me while playing a record. Not all of the components were replaced but enough of them were that it is a good reliable amp to start with if something were to ever go wrong. Furthermore these components that were replaced should not need replacing again for a very long time.
