This is a genuine retro mid-century stereo tube amplifier that has been electronically restored to play like new. He turntable in the picture is NOT included and not for sale at this time. I was using it for testing and I decided to take a picture. The original age of Hi-Fi was a relatively short period between 1954 and 1959. Audio equipment after that was more likely to be called a stereo, because it was in 1960 that stereo became all the rage.It includes all the hallmarks of early stereo gear, with abundant front panel options for switching right/left signals, phase reversal, and various mono modes. It also has provision for plugging in all common phono cartridges, and really brings vinyl to life. This amp is perfect for anybody interested in vintage audio, or early sound systems, or as that perfect authentic accent piece in a mid-century decorated living room, den, or bedroom. Or, this is perfect for anyone who just appreciates fine original American products. Or, just as an audio piece that is really cool and sounds really good. If you think the price on this is high, look around you.
This is a nice ready-for-use classic stereo amplifier, and it is priced to sell. This amp has been expertly serviced and adjusted. It has not just been'repaired', but preemptively serviced to provide many years of future trouble-free service. All electrolytic and paper capacitors were replaced, including restuffing the can caps. Any out of tolerance resistors were replaced.
The selenium rectifiers were replaced, including the DC filament supply for the low signal preamp tubes. All controls were cleaned, which included in one case taking it completely apart to do the job properly. Signal tubes are strong old stock of various brands. The output tubes are original Bogen Branded 6DW5 pairs.
The rectifiers are GE strong old stock. The transformers in this unit look very good with no signs of excessive heating. This amp plays and displays very well. Cosmetically this was for the most part given a light cleaning. The chassis does have some minor marks on the top and bottom but that doesn't detract from the presentation.
The exterior has some stains and marks from it's 60+ years but is in pretty good shape as the photos show. All lettering is in very good shape front and back. All external cosmetics are completely original. The tube shields were given a coat of zinc paint as the original zinc had long flaked off. It is unusual to find these with a cover. The included cover is in very good condition as the photos show, with very few scratches and light stains, rendered nearly invisible by the original textured two-tone paint. This also includes the ultra rare'landing gear' legs, which really gives it that mid-century kitsch. If you decide not to use the landing gear legs, keep them in a very safe place, as they will be nearly impossible to replace.
Power out: 30 watts continuous, 60 watts peak. Resp: ±0.5db, 20-20K cps. Dimensions: 6 7/8 tall (with feet), 15 inches wide, 14 inches deep.
Read the included full color laser copy of the original manual carefully for full instructions on hooking up and operation. Because of the age of the unit and swap and return scammers I cannot give an explicit guarantee, but if you have a problem let me know and I will try to assist you all I can. Swap and return scammers beware, everything has been scrutinized so that anything amiss upon a return will be found out and pursued.
CURRENT CRISES PRECAUTIONARY ACTION STATEMENT. During packing, while gloved and masked I wiped all external surfaces with alcohol wipes, taking particular care to liberally swab the controls and sides and line cord. The alcohol may leave a slight white haze, but this should polish off easily with a soft damp cloth.
