McIntosh MA230 vacuum tube integrated amplifier VINTAGE HI-FI CIRCA 1965

  

This preamp belonged to my father. As devoted audiophiles, we brought this component down to Leonard Radio in New Jersey back in the late 60s and 70s where David H. OBrien ran McIntoshs famed McIntosh Amplifier Clinics.

OBrien graphed the low distortion of the MA230 back in 1967 and 1970. As such as it demonstrates the audio adage of handsome is as handsome does. One of the best looking pieces of audio gear we have ever seen, it also one of the best-performing.

The MA230 is well built too, in the sturdy Macintosh tradition; operates flawlessly; and should provide years of trouble free service. Fast forward to today, I have plugged it in over the years and have been very pleased with the audio and controls. This past year I had it overhauled by a audio technician specializing in McIntosh. A restoration kit was installed that included Power/Filter stage electrolytic capacitors. The MA230 has a beautiful warm sound that makes this McIntosh sound so special. Size Front Panel: 16 x 5 (7/16) chassis 15 x 4.5.

Power Output - 30 watts continuous per channel. Harmonic Distortion Less then 0.5% at 30 watts output 20 cycles trough 20,000 cycles.
