Vintage Scott 299 amplifier with good cosmetics but not plug and play ready. Comes with the small signal 12AX7 tubes (GE) and the 6BL8 (Sylvania) drivers.
Missing are the 5AR4 rectifier and the 7189/6BQ5 output tubes. The output transformer primaries measure fine for continuity: from CT to each leg 106/118 ohms and 108/115 ohms respectively. The power transformer was brought up slowly with a variac to verify voltages without the rectifier tube installed: HV winding 770v ac ct, 6.5v ac output heaters and the correct dc volts on bias winding.
There is evidence of past repairs/service to parts of the circuit but the amp has the original power supply electrolytics and many of the coupling caps. The other components appear original as well, in other words, over 50 years old. At a minimum, this means servicing or even better, a complete renovation. Cosmetically, the face plate lettering, finish, knobs, etc. Are in superb condition, the chassis and transformers show minimal corrosion none?, and the rear panel is also clear and clean. I have owned this amp for a dozen years with the idea of restoring it myself but never found the time. I pass it on to someone who will. Will be carefully packed with ample protective measures to assure the amp arrives in the same condition shown.
