1960-61 BELL 2440 integrated stereo 7189 EL84 amp ultralinear fixed bias

  
This listing is for a. 2440 integrated stereo tube amplifier. As "EL84" amplifiers go, this one is pretty refined. It specifies 7189 output tubes with fixed bias in an ultra-linear circuit - and has DC voltage for the preamp filaments.

Please see the many high definition pictures to determine cosmetic condition. A former owner cut and spliced the AC cord so it is short. I gave the amp a brief test and it worked fine with no egregious 60 Hz line hum or other obvious transgressions. That said, it's over 60 years and mostly, if not completely, original.

It makes a wonderful platform for a thoughtful restoration that will provide years of enjoyment. It comes with a complete set of tubes.

The 5AR4 is a modern JJ. The 7189 are all unmarked RCA? Ditto for the 12AX7 although I'm sure if you look closely you may find some brands marked. I did not test the tubes so maybe they're good or maybe they need replacement.

They worked fine for me in that 10 minute window when I tested the unit but future performance is unknown. This is offered for sale in as-is, as-pictured condition for parts, repair or restoration. A digital copy of the SAMS photofact in good resolution is available at AKdatabase for no charge.
