The V40SE is designed on the basis of the V40, and improvements include an amplification stage and a power supply. A tantalum electronic capacitor with little capacity leakage is used for the driver circuit, not an aluminum electrolytic capacitor.

The heater voltage of the driver tube is precisely stabilized to reduce hum and noise caused by the heater system and is controlled by the power management along with the supply voltage. The heater and power supply voltage ensure high stability and drift-free operation when the AC voltage is in the range of 85-115V.
